Methodology
Unlike other character strengths assessments such as VIA Strengths and Clifton Strengths, the SIGNATURE Strengths assessment is specifically designed to identify the top 20 professional strengths that individuals naturally utilize on a daily basis. These strengths are crucial for excelling in professional life and also have a positive impact on personal life.
This focus on the top 20 professional strengths aligns with other scientific assessment tools and the broader field of positive psychology, which explores concepts such as happiness, life satisfaction, and overall well-being. Since the emergence of positive psychology, researchers have been particularly interested in identifying character strengths that strongly correlate with happiness.
Similar to other character strengths, the SIGNATURE Strengths identified in this assessment represent positive traits that are reflected in a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These strengths are universally recognized for their positive impact on both individuals and communities.
By concentrating on professional strengths, the SIGNATURE Strengths assessment offers a targeted approach that complements existing positive psychology frameworks, providing valuable insights into the specific attributes that contribute to professional success and personal fulfillment.
Approach
To develop a comprehensive and precise understanding of your strengths, we will present you with a variety of questions that explore your behaviors, emotions, and thoughts in different situations.
The SIGNATURE Strengths assessment evaluates multiple dimensions of strengths, including:
1. How naturally you feel using and developing the strength.
2. The positive energy you experience when using the strength.
3. How others perceive this as one of your strengths.
4. How well the strength aligns with your values and understanding of what a strength is.
By categorizing strengths into these dimensions, the SIGNATURE Strengths assessment provides a structured and thorough approach to identifying and understanding the various attributes that contribute to professional excellence and personal growth.
Valid and Reliable
Validity and reliability are core principles of the SIGNATURE Strengths assessment. While these two qualities are often discussed together, it is important to understand
that an assessment must be both reliable (i.e., capable of producing consistent results) and valid (i.e., accurately measuring the skills it is intended to measure).
Strengths Domain
To facilitate a comprehensive understanding, the strengths are categorized and mapped according to the iceberg model, resulting in four main categories:
-
Thinking Strengths: Excel at envisioning possibilities and analyzing information.
-
Feeling Strengths: Excel at managing emotions, empathizing with others, and providing support.
-
Doing Strengths: Excel at taking initiative, organizing tasks, and making things happen.
-
Influencing Strengths: Excel at speaking up, persuading others, and building strong relationships.
By organizing strengths into these four categories, the SIGNATURE Strengths assessment offers a structured and comprehensive approach to identifying and
understanding the key attributes that drive professional excellence and personal growth.
